Handbell Music Stand

November 8, 2010 § 1 Comment

It’s November, the clocks have been rolled back and it’s time for me to turn the garage back into a wood shop. My first project, on a quick time schedule, is to make 12 of these music stands for our Handbell Choir at Carter’s Chapel United Methodist Church. This is based on an older design by Charles Howard in which the stands were wide enough to hold 2 music binders. In this new design I’ve added a cork top to help keep the music binder from sliding, I designed the legs to nest into the top of another stand so that it’s easier to carry and store several stands together. The side panels are guilded copper in the image of two hand bells in hands. You can download the Sketchup model and at the Google Sketchup Warehouse. You can download the working plans PDF on my Google Docs. The copper tooling instructions are also on my Google Docs. UPDATE: I now have a version of the Handbell Music Stand in Sketchup with full animation showing step by step instructions
